WIDAL TEST (Slide mathod) (NDC)

The Widal Test (Slide Method) (NDC) is a rapid serological blood test used to help diagnose typhoid and paratyphoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi. The test detects specific antibodies produced by the immune system against the O (TO) and H (TH) antigens of Salmonella typhi and the AH and BH antigens of Salmonella paratyphi A and B. In the slide method, visible agglutination (clumping) occurs when these antibodies react with the corresponding antigens.

This test is commonly recommended for individuals with persistent fever, headache, abdominal pain, weakness, loss of appetite, or other symptoms suggestive of typhoid fever. The Widal Test (Slide Method) provides rapid preliminary results that help doctors assess the possibility of a Salmonella infection. The results should always be interpreted along with the patient’s clinical symptoms, medical history, and, when required, other laboratory investigations for an accurate diagnosis.
