Covid test ( RT PCR )

The COVID-19 RT-PCR Test is a highly accurate molecular diagnostic test used to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Using Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technology, the test identifies the virus’s genetic material (RNA) from a respiratory sample collected through a nasal or throat swab. RT-PCR is considered the gold standard for diagnosing active COVID-19 infection due to its high sensitivity and specificity.

During sample collection, a trained healthcare professional collects respiratory secretions using a sterile swab from the nose or throat. The test is recommended for individuals with fever, cough, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, those who have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case, or individuals requiring testing before travel, surgery, or hospital admission.
