Clostridium Difficile DNA Detection by Real Time PCR - Stool (M)

The Clostridium Difficile DNA Detection by Real-Time PCR – Stool (M) test is an advanced molecular diagnostic test used to detect the DNA of Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile in a stool sample. Using Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technology, the test identifies toxin-producing strains of C. difficile with high sensitivity and specificity, enabling rapid and accurate diagnosis of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). This method is particularly valuable for patients with suspected infectious diarrhea, especially following recent antibiotic use or hospitalization.

The test is recommended for individuals with persistent watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, or suspected antibiotic-associated colitis. A fresh stool sample is required for analysis. As this is a specialized molecular test, appropriate clinical history, specimen type, and collection details should be provided on the test request form (TRF).
