Centromere antibody (M)

The Centromere Antibody (M) test is a blood test that detects anti-centromere antibodies, which are commonly associated with CREST syndrome (a limited form of systemic sclerosis) and other autoimmune connective tissue disorders. These antibodies may also be present in certain individuals with primary biliary cholangitis (previously called primary biliary cirrhosis), rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The test helps healthcare providers evaluate autoimmune diseases affecting the skin, connective tissues, and internal organs.

This test is recommended for individuals with skin thickening, Raynaud’s phenomenon (cold or discolored fingers), joint pain, difficulty swallowing, or other symptoms suggestive of systemic sclerosis or autoimmune disease.
