Calcium, Random Urine (LPL)

The Calcium, Random Urine test measures the amount of calcium excreted in a random urine sample. It is primarily used to detect hypercalciuria, a condition in which excessive calcium is passed in the urine. Hypercalciuria may occur due to high blood calcium levels caused by conditions such as hyperparathyroidism or vitamin D excess, or it may occur even when blood calcium levels are normal (primary hypercalciuria). This test plays an important role in evaluating calcium metabolism and identifying disorders that affect the kidneys and bones.
