Alkaline Phospatase (ALP) (NHC)

Only ₹90

The Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) test measures the level of alkaline phosphatase, an enzyme found primarily in the liver, bile ducts, and bones. ALP plays an important role in bone formation, mineral metabolism, and liver function. Higher ALP levels are normally seen during childhood and adolescence due to bone growth, and may also increase during pregnancy. Abnormal ALP levels can indicate conditions affecting the liver, bile ducts, or bones, making this test an important tool in diagnosing and monitoring these disorders.

The ALP (NHC) test is recommended for individuals with jaundice, abdominal pain, bone pain, frequent fractures, fatigue, or abnormal liver function tests. It is commonly used to diagnose and monitor liver disease, bile duct obstruction, bone disorders such as rickets, Paget’s disease, osteomalacia, and other metabolic bone conditions. Results are often interpreted along with bilirubin, AST, ALT, GGT, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D to provide a comprehensive evaluation. At Nidan Pathology Lab, we provide NABL-accredited testing, FREE home sample collection, advanced laboratory technology, and accurate, timely reports to support the diagnosis and management of liver and bone disorders.

Alkaline Phospatase (ALP) (NHC) Test-

What is the Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) test?
The Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) test is a blood test that measures the level of the ALP enzyme, which is primarily found in the liver, bile ducts, and bones. It helps evaluate liver and bone health.
The test is performed to diagnose and monitor liver disease, bile duct obstruction, bone disorders, and to investigate abnormal liver function test results.
The test is recommended for individuals with jaundice, bone pain, frequent fractures, abdominal pain, fatigue, abnormal liver function tests, or suspected liver or bone disorders, as advised by a healthcare provider.
Fasting is generally not required, unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider or laboratory.
High ALP levels may indicate liver disease, bile duct obstruction, bone disorders, or normal bone growth in children and adolescents. Moderate increases may also occur during pregnancy. Low ALP levels are uncommon but may be associated with nutritional deficiencies or certain metabolic conditions. Results should be interpreted together with other liver and bone-related tests.
The test helps detect liver and bone diseases early, assess bile duct function, monitor treatment response, and support the diagnosis and management of metabolic bone and liver disorders.
