AFB-DNA detection by Real time PCR Pus, abscess and aspirates (M)

The AFB-DNA Detection by Real-Time PCR – Pus, Abscess and Aspirates (M) test is an advanced molecular diagnostic test used to detect the DNA of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in pus, abscess fluid, or aspirate samples. The test uses Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technology, which rapidly identifies the genetic material of the tuberculosis bacteria with high sensitivity and specificity. Unlike conventional culture methods, Real-Time PCR can provide results much faster, supporting early diagnosis and treatment.

This test is recommended for patients with persistent abscesses, non-healing wounds, swollen lymph nodes, or suspected extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB) involving soft tissues or deep-seated infections. A sterile sample of pus, abscess fluid, or aspirate is collected in a leak-proof sterile container and transported under appropriate conditions as recommended by the laboratory.
