The Beta-2-Microglobulin Urine Spot (M) test measures the level of Beta-2-Microglobulin (B2M) in a spot urine sample. Beta-2-Microglobulin is a small protein that is normally filtered by the kidneys and almost completely reabsorbed by the kidney tubules. Increased levels in urine may indicate kidney tubular damage, impaired kidney function, or certain disorders affecting the kidneys. The test is also useful in evaluating kidney involvement in some infections, inflammatory conditions, and blood-related disorders.
This test is recommended for individuals with suspected kidney disease, protein in the urine, exposure to substances that may affect kidney function, or those requiring assessment of renal tubular health. It helps healthcare providers detect kidney damage at an early stage, monitor disease progression, and evaluate treatment response. At Nidan Pathology Lab, we provide NABL-accredited testing, advanced laboratory technology, FREE home sample collection (where applicable), and accurate, timely reports to support reliable kidney health assessment.
