Testosterone, Total (Offer)

The Testosterone, Total (Offer) test is a blood test that measures the total level of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, in the bloodstream. Testosterone is mainly produced by the testes in men, while smaller amounts are produced by the ovaries in women and the adrenal glands in both sexes. This hormone plays a vital role in sexual development, reproductive health, muscle mass, bone strength, energy levels, and overall hormonal balance. Measuring total testosterone helps evaluate hormone production and identify disorders affecting the endocrine and reproductive systems.

The Total Testosterone test is commonly recommended for men with symptoms such as low libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, decreased muscle mass, infertility, or suspected hypogonadism. It is also useful for evaluating early or delayed puberty in children and investigating conditions in women such as excess facial or body hair, irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, or suspected polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Since testosterone levels naturally fluctuate throughout the day, the blood sample is usually collected in the morning (between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM) when hormone levels are highest.
