Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance(Pulmonary) (L)

Only ₹1980

₹2200

The Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance (Pulmonary) (L) test is an advanced molecular diagnostic test that rapidly detects the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) complex DNA and identifies Rifampicin resistance, one of the key indicators of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB). The test uses real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) with melt peak detection technology to identify the genetic material of the bacteria. It can detect members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, including M. tuberculosis, M. africanum, M. bovis, M. canettii, M. microti, M. caprae, and M. pinnipedii, while simultaneously determining Rifampicin susceptibility.

This test is recommended for individuals with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis, persistent cough, or those at risk of drug-resistant TB. Suitable specimens include sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), body fluids, aspirates, pus, or fresh tissue biopsies, depending on the clinical presentation. The Genexpert MTB/RIF test provides rapid and reliable results, enabling early diagnosis, prompt initiation of appropriate anti-tuberculosis therapy, and improved infection control. The results should always be interpreted together with clinical findings and other laboratory investigations for accurate diagnosis and effective patient management.

Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance(Pulmonary) (L) Test-

What is the Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance (Pulmonary) (L) test?
The Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance (Pulmonary) (L) test is a rapid molecular test that detects Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) complex DNA and identifies Rifampicin resistance using real-time PCR technology.
The test is performed to diagnose tuberculosis (TB) quickly, detect the presence of MTB bacteria, and identify possible Rifampicin-resistant TB, helping doctors select appropriate treatment.
The test can be performed on sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), body fluids, aspirates, pus, or fresh tissue biopsy specimens, depending on the suspected site of infection.
The test uses real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to detect the DNA of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and simultaneously determine whether the bacteria are resistant to Rifampicin.
The test is recommended for individuals with symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis, suspected drug-resistant TB, close contact with TB patients, or those requiring rapid TB diagnosis.
The test provides rapid and accurate detection of tuberculosis and Rifampicin resistance, enabling early diagnosis, timely treatment, improved patient outcomes, and better control of TB transmission.

Genexpert MTB/RIF Resistance(Pulmonary) (L)

Usage: This is a rapid semi quantitative DNA based real time PCR & melt peak detection which detects the nucleic acid of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA signifying that infection is likely with any of the following species namely M. tuberculosis, M. africanum, M. bovis, M. canettii, M. microti, M. caprae or M. pinnipedii forming the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampicin susceptibility qualitatively.
